Felipe Góes

Felipe Góes paintings arise from an initial image that quickly dissolves itself through his work process: the artist juxtaposes figuration and abstraction, clarity and ambiguity. His work deconstructs the traditional landscape painting by refusing to use photographic references, to observe the existent landscape or to use titles that could help the interpretation of images. The refusal to identify some meaningful indicators recalls both the formalist tradition of autonomous art and the mannerisms inherited from conceptual art, seeking to activate in the viewer other ways to relate with the images.
