Frutos da Dinamarca

Curated by Renato De Cara ,the exhibition comprises twelve works by Sergio Kal (b. 1971, São Paulo) and six by Francisco Maringelli (b. 1959, São Paulo), all of them earthy landscapes of Denmark. Frutos da Dinamarca [Fruits of Denmark] results from a fifteen days immersion in the city of Glusted. The painter Maringelli used acrylic paint to record wooden houses and abandoned spots of the city. Kal, who works with engraving and drawing, developed his works with a telluric palette of dry pastel on paper. When seeing the pieces side by side, the viewer gets a sense of both resemblance and difference. The same experience lived simultaneously by two different people can be similar, but never the same for each of them.

Francisco Maringelli holds one BA in Architecture and one in Fine Arts from São Paulo University – USP. Sergio Kal has a BA in Industrial Design and a graduate degree in Photography and Theory of Image.
