Giracorpogira II
The Museu Afro Brazil presents its new exhibition “Giracorpogira II” artist Jaques Faing, which features 38 works, the result of research conducted since 2003 on the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
The images obtained by Carioca visual artist, Jaques Faing, who lives and works in São Paulo, suggest many layers of meaning, the result of his work both as a poet and as a performer. They lead the viewer to extend his sights on the movement of bodies in them insinuated, allowing a new aesthetic experience.
In his works, Faing attempts to grasp the invisible, exploring its own movement, boldly circulating within the walkways, the movement of the camera and the figures for daring to capture something more than an image. The result is sprayed colors for harmony between low speed camera, high-speed dynamics of the characters and the continued displacement of the artist’s gaze. Bahia are dematerialized turning gently above the ground, as abstractions that reveal color, kinetic and poetic subtleties.
These bodies float gently and lightness beyond the carnival reality, transporting the viewer into a sensitive, quiet and transcendent field.
