Ibirapuera – Spiraling modernity

In celebration of the six decades since the museum’s inauguration in Ibirapuera Park (August 1954), curators Rodrigo Queiroz and Ana Barone have chosen to accent the park’s inception – showcasing Oscar Niemeyer‘s architectural designs of the complex as well as the museum’s cultural programs during its early years.

The exhibit also illustrates how the park’s design paralleled the wave of modern architecture that spread throughout Brazil in the 1950s and 60s and draws attention to how the park permanently intertwined with the expanding metropolis during the period leading up to the park’s inauguration.
