Jaime Prades: Inside

Galeria Mezanino presents a solo show by the Spanish Jaime Prades.

Jaime Prades (Madrid, ES / 1958) arrived in Brazil in 1970, when his family returned to the country. In 1984 he joined the Tupinãodá group with which realized three-dimensional graphics and urban interventions. Street art pioneer in São Paulo, he developed an easily recognizable visual language through his characters and graphics. Jaime came from the appropriation of reinforced concrete debris and other materials found in the city, which uses as support for their graphic designs, reaching the monumental sculptures working with construction wood collected in the streets. So reused, these residues, the last stage of the constant transformation of the city, raised as trees and other organic forms that, similarly to the interventions made with Tupinãodá also question the use of urban spaces. From 1986 to 1989 he exhibited at the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, the MAC / USP and parallel two Biennials of São Paulo events. In 1993 he exhibited his sculptures at MASP curated by Fabio Magalhaes. In 1998 holds its first international exhibition in Japan at the invitation of the Plaza Gallery in Tokyo. He held three environments of the Cervantes Institute with installations, assemblages, paintings and sculptures on display BONE (São Paulo / 2013) and held individual Peacemakers in Mezzanine gallery in 2014.
