José Spaniol: TIAMM SCHUOOMM CASH!

A new exhibition at Estação Pinacoteca de São Paulo. From March 19, the museum, which is run by Secretaria da Cultura do Estado de São Paulo inaugurates installation by José Spaniol: “TIAMM SCHUOOMM CASH!”. José is a painter, draftsman, engraver, sculptor and teacher born in St. Louis Gonzaga. The show is a part of Projeto Octógono and opens the year’s program for 2016.

The work refers to a wave and was developed from observations of the sea, the unpredictability and surprise that the ocean can suggest. Positioned in octagon at Pinacoteca, it was built from two wooden boats, six meters long each, raised to 10 meters height, supported by bamboo struts. The suspension of boats creates sculptural landscape, in which the absence of water and its movement is put in tension by the rhythm of anchors, creating rather a fictional scenario.

This work is part of a series of works related to the sea sounds; it puts forward the idea to the viewer to enjoy from an improbable and destabilizing standpoint.
