Luiz Roque
Luiz Roque‘s first solo show at Sé is also the premiere of his latest movie “MODERN” in São Paulo. Created in 2014 during an artistic residency at Delfina Foundation (London), the film reflects Roque’s interest in the relationships between body, choreography and gender with the legacy of modern sculpture. The show also comprises other pieces in dialogue with the projection.
Luiz Roque (b. 1979, Brazil) has had solo shows at White Cubicle (London, 2015), Museu do Trabalho (Porto Alegre, 2014) and Phosphurus (São Paulo, 2013). His recent group shows include 17th and 18th VIDEOBRASIL (São Paulo, 2011 and 2013), “Filmes e Vídeos de Artistas na Coleção Itaú Cultural” (Palácio das Artes, Belo Horizonte, 2012), “Amor e Ódio à Lygia Clark” (Zacheta National Gallery, Warsaw, 2013), 9th Mercosul Biennial (Porto Alegre, 2013), “The Brancusi Effect” (Kunsthalle, Vien, 2014) and “The Violet Crab (DRAF, London, 2015).
