Ocupação Abdias do Nascimento

The life of the black intellectual Abdias do Nascimento, griot of the history of the struggle against racism in Brazil, is told in this exhibition, organized by Itaú Cultural, through paintings, historic documents, letters, speeches, interviews, statements, manuscripts and photographs.

Included are details of his many artistic and political crusades against racial prejudice in Brazil, which led to the emergence of many institutions such as the Teatro Experimental do Negro [Black Experimental Theater], the Museu de Arte Negra [Black Art Museum] and the Zumbi Memorial.
