Panos de Mesa / Objetos do Paraguay

Panos de Mesa / Objetos do Paraguay is the second solo exhibition of the artist Rafael RG at Sé. The first, called Há Algo que você espera de mim? (There’s Something you expect from me?) took place in September 2014, curated by Marta Master.

Unlike the first, with original and contextual works, this exhibition presents a collection of works conceived and carried out between 2010 and 2016, all guided in their relations with each other. These personal relationships, sometimes loving, sometimes platonic, sometimes through the middle people with dialogue, form a network of agents that the artist describes as ” Pessoas essenciais”, based on the concept of “Solidão essencial” by French writer Maurice Blanchot.

The name Panos de Mesa / Objetos do Paraguay (Table Cloths / Paraguay objects) was taken from a fictional book (Coleção Debates, 2015). The content of the book, in this case, is available to the public in the form of metaphor but for the author and co-author it is as a record (memory) of a relationship of the two.
