The show features recent and unseen videos of Paulo Nazareth.
One is titled “Ol Ori Buruku”, an oath in the Yoruba language spoken by the first slaves brought from Africa to Brazil, and it shows a man insulting the São Paulo skyline in this idiom.
Nazareth’s aim is to explore the displacement of African people from their geographic and cultural origins, using linguistic references to unite past and present conflicts and to reflect upon the question of identity.
