Relative Territory
In 2015, Lidia Malynowskyj and Carrie Fucile met in an artistic residency in Zalaegerszeg, Hungry and became closer as they began to reflect upon questions that involved the idea of territory, borders, memory and the ephemerality of these concepts in contrast with human conflicts.
The exhibition “Relative Territory” demonstrates a dialog between two artist from two different countries – Brazil and the USA – that, through the use of natural materials and their mutual reflection on human resettlement, overlap in their works.
Conflicts, changes, political and historical questions surround the installations of an exhibition that overcomes geographical boudaries that separate the two artists as it happens both in São Paulo at Casa Contemporânea and in Baltimore, Maryland at School 33.
