Rivane Neuenschwander: Misunderstood

Neuenschwander‘s installations, photographs, objects, collages, videos and drawings confront the viewer with that which surrounds them every day but almost always goes unnoticed.

Neuenschwander‘s work presents its themes in a poetic manner, combining a formal style with organic forms, entropy and public participation, establishing a dialogue with the rich Brazilian tradition deriving from a meeting of geometry and the body, and discussing universal questions through simple everyday things. The artist aims to create sensory experiences and a kind of memory of ordinary everyday life.

“Misunderstood” will be the first retrospective show in Brazil dedicated to Rivane Neuenschwander, who has gained international acclaim with experimental works that bring together geometrical construction and random elements to generate unusual combinations of materials and images. In addition to the retrospective part of the exhibition, the artist will also produce new pieces especially for the show.
