This interactive installation from 1986 departs from a major concern of the artist: the effects on society of mass communication, specially television.
“WakingUp in News America” is a room where all surfaces, including objects, are covered with images of TV presenters, most of them blonde and blue-eyed women. The visitor can walk freely in the space and experiment an immersion in the world proposed by Heinecken (b. 1931 – d. 2006), a pioneer investigator of the excess of images to which people are submitted.
The exhibition was curated by Daniel Rangel.
