Rodrigo Braga: Tombo
“Tombo” is a site-specific installation by Rodrigo Braga (b. 1976, Manaus) where more than fifteen logs with approximately 5 meters of length each, which came from five centennial royal palms, lay on the ground of Casa França-Brasil central span. The installation is immediately put in relation with the twenty-four columns of the space, a landmark of neoclassical architecture in the country. According to the curator Thais Rivitti, the work brings to front the discussion between the binomial nature and culture.
Born in Manaus, raised in Recife and living in Rio de Janeiro for the last four years, the artist has participated of the 30th Bienal Internacional de São Paulo, 2012. His work integrates important collections, such as Maison Européene de La Photographie, Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM RJ) and Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (MAM SP).
“Tombo” is the artist’s first solo show in Rio de Janeiro.
