Thin China: The art of Fernando Ribeiro

The exhibition “Thin China. The art of Fernando Ribeiro ” has 80 unpublished works – paintings and collages – composing a series in which the artist appropriates icons of national and international painting, weaving and making allusions to the history of Brazilian and world art. By using different media of traditional painting, Fernando Ribeiro search both question the support of the work as well, from the appropriation of third-party objects, establish a dialogue with the audience about various issues, from consumerism to the work of art value as memory and part of the story. Simple paper plates, easily accessible to anyone, transform, from the artist’s intervention in sophisticated and fun works of art.
