Vedel Joen: Solo Show

SOLO SHOWS announces the Joen Vedel‘s exhibition. Vedel will be working on a film that refuses to be finished, a film that is about the present moment in all its messiness and about the difficulty in capturing this mess as it unfolds. During the course of the exhibition, Vedel will be gathering materials and make several attempts at editing a film that moves through the recent past and the near-future; through different geographies and cosmologies, not so much for posterity or reflection but as a way to help us navigate the present.

Joen Vedel (*1983) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2011 and The Whitney Independent Study Program in 2014. He participated in the Maumaus study program in Lisbon (2007) and the Capacete study program in Rio de Janeiro (2015). Vedel has shown his work in solo exhibitions at Kunsthal Århus (2015), Bureau Publik (Copenhagen, 2013), Overgaden (Copenhagen, 2012), Lumiar Cité (Lisbon, 2011) and participated in group exhibitions at Charlottenborg Kunsthal, Nikolaj Kunsthal, Frankfurter Kunstverein and Haus der Kulturen der Welt. In 2013 he published his first book of writing, Sammenbrudstykker (fragments of a collapse), a diary from and about the crises in Greece, which is currently being translated into English. Vedel lives and works in Copenhagen and Rio de Janeiro.
