Nathalie Du Pasquier: Volare Guardare Costruire
Museo Nivola presents “Volare Guardare Costruire” (to fly, to look, to build), a site-specific project by Nathalie Du Pasquier, French artist and designer based in Milan.
Conceived especially for the museum, the exhibition is both a retrospective of Du Pasquier’s painting from the 1980s to today and an immersive installation merging art, design, and architecture. Visitors move through structures created by the artist, transforming the space into a walkable environment for visual exploration.
This architectural dialogue unfolds within the museum’s historic site—the former washhouse of Orani—now reimagined through Du Pasquier’s ephemeral geometries. On view are works tracing her evolving visual language: from figuration to still lifes of everyday objects, to abstract constructions defined by clarity, light, and form.
The title reflects three key stages in her practice. Volare marks her move from design to painting; Guardare reflects close observation of ordinary forms; Costruire signals her shift to building physical structures as a starting point for painting. These phases map a journey between imagination and materiality, abstraction and representation.
With this exhibition, Museo Nivola furthers its mission to foster dialogue between art, design, and architecture, spotlighting an artist who continues to reshape the act of looking and making.
