Barbara Kruger: Forever

On the occasion of the first anniversary, the Amorepacific Museum of Art, Seoul, dedicates a major solo exhibition to the American artist Barbara Kruger, titled “Forever”, collecting works from the 1980s on.

Sixteen pieces from Kruger’s series of small and black framed works, dating back to the 80s, highlight the artist’s seminal experimentations with visual codes; besides them, “Forever” features also a selection of her black and white works in their signature red frame and the “Untitled (Project for Dazed and Confused)” piece, from 1996. The exhibition, the first solo one dedicated in Asia to the artist, include also recent and immersive interventions, such as the four-channel video installation “The Globe Shrinks” (2010) and “Untitled (Forever)” (2017),  which Kruger readapted specifically for the museum’s architecture: large-scale texts entirely wrap the four walls of the room, providing visitors with a 360-degree experience. The highlights of the exhibition also include the world premiere of Kruger’s new works using the Korean alphabet.
