Korea Artist Prize 2016

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art announced the three artists and one team who will receive support provided jointly by the SBS Foundation for the Korea Artist Prize 2016 exhibition to be held jointly with the SBS Foundation. The three artists and one team are Kim Eull, Back Seung-woo, Ham Kyung-ah, and Mixrice (Yang Chul-mo, Cho Ji-eun), who are currently engaging in artistic activities and demonstrating artistic capabilities through artworks of various forms and themes in Korea and overseas. These artists will present their new artworks at the Korea Artist Prize 2016 exhibition, which will be held at Galleries 1 and 2 of MMCA Seoul from August 31 (Wed), 2016 to January 15 (Sun), 2017.

Korea Artist Prize is MMCA’s representative award system operated jointly with the SBS Foundation since 2012 to support and foster artists who will suggest the possibility and vision of Korean contemporary art as well as new directions. It was based on the 〈Artist of the Year〉 exhibition, which showcased the art world of many artists by holding exhibitions at MMCA Gwacheon between 1995 and 2010.
