Neïl Beloufa: Soft(a)ware
The K11 Art Foundation and the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London present “Neïl Beloufa: Soft(a)ware”, French –Algerian artist Neïl Beloufa’s first institutional solo exhibition in China.
Beloufa’s interweaving of technology, sculpture, video, data and everyday life takes on new implications when presented within the context of China, where Internet and communication is still regulated.
Spanning across half of the chi K11 art museum, the exhibition explores the accelerated geo-digital realities, and how articulations of sovereignty and the personal interrelate. Showcasing new commissions, the exhibition considers how the connection to global information, online resources and data is in fact an uneven process that varies between different geographies and governments, while being “Soft(a)ware” heralds a new-found subjectivity that is informed and shaped by our relation to online knowledge and digital platforms.
