Secret Chamber
The exhibition project “Secret Chamber”, launched jointly by Han Xinyi, Liu Xinyi and Yang Zi will be held at am Art Space on the 1st of October, 2016. The team does not have a strict boundary between curators and artists; instead, people co-ordinate to progress the direction and presentation of the exhibition at voluntary will.
The background of this project derives from a series of political and economic measures focusing on optimizing population management and lifting cities’ position by first-tier city domestic cities during the past few years. Facing the pressure of public opinion causing by booming population expansion, policymakers would hope to lead those low-value added population and industrial chain to relocate away from the center through different levels of actions including policy, law enforcement and economic leverage.
Project “Secret Chamber” aims to explore the potential imaginary insecurity within the city’s basement space. It re-examines the keyword ‘radicalism’ which was deeply implanted in last century’s political crises and class antagonism scenarios. Through the spread items and videos in the exhibiting space, people will obtain imaginable clues by observing one’s surroundings. “Secret Chamber” focuses on the reality of cities which subtly contains multiple fluctuations, and is trying to find a standpoint which drifts away from ‘political correctness’ and present a composed reflection while reveal complicated characterization of real life.
