Total War or Nothing at All: Noise
Following “Total War Or Nothing At All: Hot” at J: GALLERY, the curatorial team has continued to work on the second episode of this serial exhibition. A group of young jurors has been invited to participate the work-selection programme. The venue will be relocated to a most surreal virtual space: CAPO. Designed by the renowned architecture studio Neri&Hu, CAPO is located at the attic of a 1911 building in Rockbund, offering fine modern Italian cuisine. The exhibition will attempt to distribute a noisy field into CAPO’s atmospheric medieval basilica-inspired space. There will be exciting audio and visual performances at the opening. The theme of this episode is “noise”. Noisy surrounding is commonly recognised as a terrible environment for exhibitions, provoking direct biological and psychological reactions in the audience. The challenge of creating responsive works has therefore increased, compared to our first episode “Hot”. How would the artists seek to confront this unfriendly environment with their works?
Jurors: Lai Fei, Li Bowen, Gu Ling, Yang Zi
