Koh Fiona: EËJA

EËJA is an installation by Fiona Koh that explores the mediation and design of typical office furniture. Presented in the form of a showroom, it features furniture and furnishings that oppose their original function: a desk without workspace, shelving units made of EVA foam and dysfunctional lighting. The installation also includes posters of designs for other items of what Koh describes as ‘futile furniture’ that manipulate the typography and branding of Scandinavian furniture chain IKEA.

Fiona Koh is a member of art collective Vertical Submarine, and an alumna of the Diploma in Design Communication Programme (2003 cohort) at LASALLE College of the Arts. EËJA is her first solo exhibition.
