Gilbert & George: The Beard Pictures

“The Beard Pictures” represent the new body of work of Gilbert & George, comprising a selection of pictures of the two artists with beards which will vary in size up to the 23 m long triptych “Old Beard Ruin”.
In these new works Gilbert & George look possessed and serious, as their spirits might have left their bodies. In each picture they wear beards that are surreal and symbolic: beards made of wire mesh, beards made of beer foam, beards made of flowers, beards comprising rabbits with snakes for tongues.
