La Bibi + Reus presents: Between Paradises and Hyperrealities

La Bibi + Reus joint venture debuts its first Mallorca project with two immersive exhibitions exploring paradise, hyperreality, and perception.

LA BIBI + REUS, Carrer del Molí del Comte 47, Palma de Mallorca, 07010

La Bibi + Reus is set to unveil a new artistic cycle with a double opening on March 21 and 22, marking the first major project in Mallorca since their recent fusion. As part of the Art Palma Brunch, the gallery presents two distinct yet complementary exhibitions that offer a fresh perspective on contemporary art. These exhibitions invite the audience to engage with painting and space in unconventional ways, encouraging reflection on themes of nature, paradise, and modern representations of reality.
An Wei, known for his experimental approach to figurative painting, introduces an immersive installation that challenges the boundaries of space. His work transforms painting into a habitable and navigable environment, inviting visitors to step inside a reimagined garden. Through this intervention, he questions the human relationship with paradise and the idea of domesticated nature, urging the audience to reconsider what paradise means in a world shaped by human influence.
Paul Riedmüller, on the other hand, showcases a series of works developed during his residency at the gallery, deeply inspired by the landscapes and daily life of Mallorca. His pieces range from still lifes to landscapes and striking spatial interventions that turn the exhibition space into an immersive environment. Rooted in Jean Baudrillard’s theory of the simulacrum, his work examines the dissolution of the boundary between image and reality, materializing digital renderings onto canvas. By doing so, Riedmüller confronts viewers with a hyperreality that reshapes how we perceive images and their connection to the world around us.

The opening event will take place on March 21 from 18:00 to 21:00 and on March 22 from 11:00 to 14:00 at C/ Molí del Comte, 47A. The exhibitions will remain open until May 30, offering visitors an extended opportunity to immerse themselves in a thought-provoking visual dialogue that challenges the nature of perception and reality within a dynamic and evocative space.
