Edita Schubert: Profusion

Muzeum Susch, Sur Punt 78, Susch

“Edita Schubert: Profusion” at Muzeum Susch presents a comprehensive survey of the artist’s work, spanning from her early paintings to the installations of her final years. The exhibition brings together painting, sculpture, installation, performance, and collage, highlighting the breadth and continuity of Schubert’s practice.

Active from the early 1970s until her death in 2001, Edita Schubert is a key figure in Croatian and Yugoslav art. Her work ranges from early explorations of human relationships with the natural world to expressive painting in the 1980s and politically charged collages in the 1990s. The exhibition revisits important installation works, including “Doorways” (1978) and “Horizon” (2000), emphasizing her interest in memory, identity, and lived experience.

Occupying twelve galleries, “Edita Schubert: Profusion” is the first major retrospective of the artist outside Croatia and forms part of Muzeum Susch’s ongoing research into women artists from Central and Eastern Europe. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication co-published with Hatje Cantz.
