Lantern With No Walls
Fondazione In Between Art Film presents “Lantern With No Walls”, a group exhibition curated by Leonardo Bigazzi, Alessandro Rabottini and Paola Ugolini set against the Bernese Alps in Gstaad, Switzerland. The exhibition showcases six video works by international artists from the Fondazione’s collection, dedicated to moving image art.
The selected works, by Saodat Ismailova, Masbedo, Adrian Paci, Thao Nguyen Phan, Janis Rafa, and Daniel Steegmann Mangrané, explore landscapes—real and imagined—as central motifs. These environments, ranging from Uzbekistan’s rocky terrain to the Mekong River, serve as metaphors for time, human impact, and the interplay between past and present. The works reflect on human and non-human existence, creating connections between nature, memory, and technology.
The exhibition’s design, by interdisciplinary studio 2050+, evokes the concept of a lantern, using semi-transparent materials to guide visitors through a circular path. Shadows, sounds, and light animate the space, amplifying the themes of the works and creating an immersive experience.
“Lantern With No Walls” continues the Fondazione’s exploration of moving images and architecture, following previous exhibitions “Penumbra” and “Nebula”. The project aims to deepen the sensory engagement between art, space, and audience.
