Börje Tobiasson: It Was Hard to Be a Saint in the City

The exhibition marks a return to the end of the 80s, starting with the title which is taken from the Bruce Springsteen song It’s Hard to Be in Saint in the City.  The show reviews the decade through the lens of the Swedish photographer Börje Tobiasson. His pictures document his life of travels and encounters; the ones exhibited portray scenes from the year 1986, shot in Naples, Mexico City, Rome and New York, showing a reality which was yet to be disturbed by processes of gentrification and globalisation.
