Henrik Håkansson: Blinded by the light

Franco Noero Via Mottalciata, via Mottalciata 10/B

Henrik Håkansson (Helsingborg, 1968) presents the video installation “Blinded by the light“, which was first presented at the 11th Taipei Post-Nature Biennial – A Museum as an Ecosystem curated by Francesco Manacorda and Mali Wu.

“Blinded By the light” is produced in collaboration with the Low Altitude Experimental Station of the Taiwan Endemic Species Research Institute at Wushinkeng. Throughout 2018, Håkansson studied the moths of the Taiwan region, which number about 4,000 different species currently known, including the ‘Atlas Moth’, the largest in the world and with a wingspan that can reach 30 centimeters. The night show is accompanied by a soundscape composed of ultrasounds emitted by bats that the artist has transformed into frequencies audible to the human ear.
