INSPIRA. TRATTIENI. ESPIRA. Capitolo 2

Inspira. Trattieni. Espira. marks the opening of Simóndi’s new premises and celebrates a moment of transition, transforming it into an opportunity for encounter and exchange. It is an exhibition, but also a celebration: an invitation to inhabit a new space and to recognise the value of the time it invites us to embrace, turning it into a shared ritual.

The exhibition takes its title from the experience of crossing the courtyard of Palazzo Scaglia di Verrua, leaving the city behind the entrance and gradually entering a space of quiet and contemplation. Breathing gives life its essential rhythm, shared by all living beings: breathing in, holding, breathing out. A simple gesture, often performed unconsciously, breath does not interrupt time but reveals its rhythm. It reminds us that a pause is not a suspension of life, but the very condition that allows us to continue observing and imagining.

The works brought together in the exhibition reflect the diversity of perspectives that characterises the gallery’s programme. Working across a range of media — photography, sculpture, sound, installation and video — the artists explore some of the most pressing issues of our time: environmental change, conflict, migration, borders, and the fragility of political and social systems. They do not seek to represent the world in its entirety, nor to offer definitive answers. Instead, they open up a space for perception.
