Iran do Espírito Santo: Tracciare il pensiero 2002-2025

Mazzoleni presents “Tracing Thought. 2002–2025”, the first solo exhibition in Turin by Brazilian artist Iran do Espírito Santo. Spanning over two decades of his practice, the show occupies nearly 1,000 square metres of the gallery’s piano nobile and features both historical and new site-specific works. Conceived as a meditation on light and scale, the exhibition reflects Espírito Santo’s refined approach to form, proportion, and perception.

At its core is “Switch” (2025), a wall painting composed of 56 shades of grey that embodies the artist’s notion of “resistance pieces”—ephemeral works that exist in defiance of a consumer-driven world. Two monumental sculptures, “Metro” and “Compasso” (both 2025), reinterpret everyday measuring tools, transforming them into metaphors for human striving between the ideal and the real. The granite “Reflexive Windows” (2020) blur the boundary between interior and exterior, perception and reflection. Finally, the graphite “Curtains” series (2025) translates the folds of drapery into rhythmic abstractions, meditating on gravity, structure, and the subtle interplay of material and idea.
