Jorge Macchi: Der Zauberberg

Der Zauberberg is the first solo exhibition in Turin by the artist Jorge Macchi who has created a site-specific installation for the spaces of Studio Quartz in Turin. Macchi’s projects consists of eight identical groups of objects, which recall the gallery’s floor colours and pattern. The ensembles are obtained from the juxtaposition of always the same items and rubbish like cardboard boxes, bottles, boards, newspapers, etc. The exhibition is titled after Thomas Mann’s novel “The Magic Mountain”, which left a deep impression on the artist after discovering that the magic mountain is a recurring image in German literature, a place from where people do not return
