Maria Morganti

GAM hosts the first major exhibition of Maria Morganti’s work, featuring pieces from 1988 to 2024. Morganti’s art revolves around the essential, repeated gestures of painting, creating a “chromatic diary” that captures the accumulation of time through daily actions in her studio.

At the heart of the exhibition, “Gestureplace”, an installation replicating Morganti’s studio, features three core elements: “Sedimentary” (her Sedimentations series), “Diarythèque” (her Diaries), and “Infinite Painting”, a layered work created daily since 2006. These works form an evolving timeline, reflecting Morganti’s unique relationship with color and the Venetian painting tradition.
