Phillip Lai

The new body of works by Phillip Lai (Kuala Lumpur, 1969, lives and works in London) is related to the concept of materiality and questions aspects such as accumulation, dispersion, isolation, and indeterminacy.

The sculptural elements of Lai, scattered on the wall or on the ground almost in an apparent disorder, hide in them an unexpected familiarity, often abstract, reworked by the direct intervention of the artist, but which inevitably becomes the bearer of a human aspect, evoking needs, needs, and attitudes.
