Thomas Kuijpers: Decor

Mucho Mas! artist run space put out an open call “Decor”. The chosen project is an experiment by Thomas Kuijpers. He departs from the way images are often incapable of transmitting emotion because he approaches them from a professional point of view where the content is rationalised and analysed before a true emotional response can settle.

Thomas has produced a series of landscapes which are in fact stills from ISIS propaganda videos and rids them of any human beings in an attempt to overcome the handicap of the over-rationalisation of images.
