Tunga : From “La Voie Humide”

The first solo show by Tunga (b.1952, Palmares) in Italy will open on November 5th at Franco Noero‘s gallery.

From “La Voie Humide” includes new tridimensional site-specific works that invade the gallery’s spaces of narrative suggestions that that refer to the concept of transformation and becoming. Materials and shapes – both abstract and translated into more recognizable objects – bring with them a strong symbolic value , creating delicate and surprising balance between the various elements.

Ten drawings, made by tracing a continuous line on really thin sheets of paper from the Himalaya, take inspiration from a Surrealist vocabulary associated with the body and the psychic automatism and can be considered as a musical instrument that guides the sculptures. As a result the body of works are all harmoniously connected in a space – time continuum that makes them part of a congregation, as the artist said in his own words.

This exhibition highlights the interest of the artist in psychoanalysis and brings proofs of his personal reinterpretation of esoteric sciences, with a particular interest in alchemy.
