The Museo Nazionale della Montagna presents “Walking Mountains”, an exhibition marking its 150th anniversary and culminating a year of exploration on the theme of walking. Curated by Andrea Lerda, with guidance from artists Hamish Fulton and Michael Höpfner, the project explores walking as a means to engage with mountain landscapes and reimagine human-world connections.

Through “Walking Mountains”, the act of crossing mountains is presented as a dialogue with nature, a journey toward a renewed personal and collective consciousness, and a radical, intimate act of disobedience. The exhibition showcases works by 20 contemporary artists alongside pieces by Richard Long and Joseph Beuys, highlighting walking as a revitalising, subversive gesture.

A bilingual catalogue accompanies the exhibition, which also includes performances running from November 2024 to June 2025 and an extension at the Lou Pourtou centre in Ostana, in collaboration with Viso a Viso cooperativa di comunità.
