Adam de Neige: The machine was a ball, and I was a cold star

Spazio Tana White, Fondamenta della Tana, 2109A, Castello

Adam de Neige presents at Spazio Tana White during the 57th Venice Biennale “The machine was a ball, and I was a cold star”, a new project dealing with collective memes’ triggers and control.

The exhibition space is controlled by a series of algorithms acquiring deepest human emotions. Programmed to self-educate and evolve, it will create plots of increasing complexity, visual output and narration. The artist retreats, leaving his self-expression to the power of data.

While global interconnectivity accelerates acts of creation, doubts emerge about uniformity in self-expression and control of our data, our (artistic) ideas.

Today, the role of information has changed because of its immediate impact in every part of the world: nothing and everything becomes important and we struggle to distinguish the wrong from the right.

Barely visible in the space, Adam´s drawings literally transmit the flow of data and power. This Artificial intelligence is the result of Adam de Neige’s collaboration with software engineer Ivan Pesic.

The learning installation has the complete creative power and neither the artist nor viewers know what it will produce.

The only certainty is that it will lead us on and on, from one question to another, telling its story.
