Andrea Mastrovito: Quando il cielo finisce

Galleria Michela Rizzo is pleased to present “Quando il cielo finisce”, the second solo exhibition by Andrea Mastrovito. The show inaugurates the new spaces of Palazzo Palumbo Fossati in Venice, marking a moment of renewal and continuity in the gallery’s history.

In this project, Mastrovito pays tribute to the historic artists who have shaped Galleria Michela Rizzo’s journey, reinterpreting their works and weaving them into his own visual language. The starting point is the 2021 exhibition “La diseducazione al reale”, which launched his collaboration with the gallery and explored drawing as a layered language and tool for reimagining reality.

In “Quando il cielo finisce”, the artist develops a collective narrative where engraving, inlay, painting, pastel drawing, and frottage overlap, creating a rich interplay of images, materials, and meanings. The title embodies a poetic paradox: the sky, symbol of the infinite, is a physical boundary separating perception from space. Mastrovito navigates this threshold, constructing a dialogue between past masters and the present, heritage and possibility.
