Armand Louis: dallo sguardo al segno

Lo Studio – Nadja Romain is pleased to present, in collaboration with Rossana Orlandi Gallery, dallo sguardo al segno, the first solo exhibition in Venice by Swiss architect and designer Armand Louis, co-founder of atelier oï.

Presented in Venice and produced in dialogue with the master glassmakers of Wave Murano Glass, this new body of work marks a new chapter in Armand Louis’s thirty-five years of research into material, structure, and the phenomena that shape them. 
Rooted in a profound observation of nature and a respect for craftsmanship, his practice explores the latent potential of materials, allowing their intrinsic qualities and unpredictable behaviour to become part of the creative process.

Dallo sguardo al segno extends this inquiry into sound as well: in Quincafonie, developed with Pase Venezia Sound Laboratory, five blown-glass forms reveal their own resonant frequencies, giving rise to a musical composition – glass unveiling an invisible dimension of its own nature, waiting to be discovered in person.

Armand Louis brings his perspective, his curiosity and his way of reading the world, indicating a direction. The master glassmakers respond with the intelligence developed through years of experience with fire, bringing their knowledge. Then the material does what neither had foreseen, offering its own knowledge and holding all three presences within it.

The exhibition is presented with the support of the Consulate of Switzerland in Venice, and as part of The Venice Glass Week 2026 and on the occasion of Homo Faber 2026, further connecting Armand Louis’s research to Venice’s rich culture of contemporary craftsmanship and glassmaking.
