Burri la pittura, irriducibile presenza
Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice dedicates a major retrospective to Alberto Burri, in collaboration with the Fondazione Palazzo Albizzini Collezione Burri in Città di Castello. The exhibition arises from the two institutions’ will to take back to Venice some of the most significative works by the artist, whose last anthological show dates back to 1987. The around fifty artworks included, borrowed from Fondazione Burri along with other Italian and international museums and private collections, offer an extensive overview of the life of one of the protagonists of Italian and European art of the 20th century. The exhibition retraces in chronological order the main stages of Burri’s artistic path through some of the most famous masterpieces by the artist, from the series “Tars”, “Moulds”, the monumental “Sacks” and “Combustions”, “Woods”, “Plastics”, the extraordinary “Cretti” (Cracks) and the late “Cellotex”.
