Carolina Mazzolari Studio in collaboration with SARP Gallery present this work in Venice.
The combination of a collage of large-scale video projections and an all-encompassing installation of fabrics moved by the wind, becomes in this work by Carolina Mazzolari an evocative metaphor of the rituals of the collective work of women. The Domus Civica gallery is located in the Le Chiovere district in Venice, an area that was formerly used for the historical practice of open-air public laundries. These are spaces of work and community spaces where women gathered to clean dirty clothes. Or to work on the production textile production of sails.
Reflecting on the location and the architecture of the gallery as a starting point, Mazzolari creates an evocative environment evocative environment that changes from day to night. In the large windows of the building appears an installation of fabrics animated by the gentle blowing of the wind. The installation reconstructs the ritual of women and freshly washed, hung on the balcony wires to dry. By day, passers-by will see this fabric installation moved by fans, and at night, fragments of the video work will be projected onto the moving canvas, illuminating the facades of the gallery windows. In addition, Mazzolari will present a unique tapestry made as a plastic synthesis of the video work, the main element of her artistic practice.
