The exhibition welcomes viewers into an immersive meditation on the materiality of weather and the flow of time with a series of storm paintings by Maria Kreyn. In the Orphic tradition, the unaging Chronos — the embodiment of Time itself — produces Aether, Chaos, and an Egg. This cosmic egg, emerging from the union of Hydros (the primordial sea) and Ouranos (sky), engenders the source of creation and life. In this mythology, the generative force of the egg emphasizes the eternal and cyclical nature of creation and regeneration. As an object prone to fertilization, the egg encompasses the idea of potentiality. It is pre-creation chaos waiting to become cosmos. It gestures at the preconsciousness of a given culture – the collective being itself waiting to be made conscious.
