Frédéric Delangle: Venezia, la Scomparsa
Wilmotte Foundation presents, during the 57th Venice Biennale, a solo show by the photographer Frédéric Delangle featuring 33 original prints on three formats.
Inspired by the novel of George Perec, A Void – translated from the original French La Disparition (literally, “The Disappearance”), “La scomparsa” in Italian – the photographer works on colors and contrasts making them disappear. The resulting images, deprived of intermediate shades, obliged the viewer to rest on the photos. At a second viewing, images began to reveal details, as they emerge from memory. Besides the most known sides of Venice, its essential, archetypal form is unveiled.
