Greta Ferretti: L’Ambrosia purpurea
Marignana Arte presents L’Ambrosia purpurea, the first solo exhibition by painter Greta Ferretti.
The title evokes ambrosia, the nectar of the gods which, in ancient tradition, was believed to bestow immortality. Taking this image as its starting point, the exhibition explores themes of permanence and transformation through a narrative shaped by returns and recurrences: situations, presences and relationships resurface, each time arranged in different combinations.
Greta Ferretti’s painting takes shape as an inner landscape, nourished by a personal repertoire of circumstances, real and imagined places, people and destinies. Within a dreamlike, at times enigmatic dimension, seemingly disparate elements converge, giving rise to a private mythology in which memory and imagination continually overlap. The figures inhabiting this world do not refer to clearly defined identities, but instead emerge as suspended presences, carrying with them stories yet to unfold.
These worlds surface without ever revealing themselves in their entirety: for a moment, they become recognisable, only to recede once more, making way for new settings and narrative possibilities. L’Ambrosia purpurea thus unfolds as a universe in a constant state of becoming, where images and stories meet, dissolve and take on new forms.
