School for Curatorial Studies Venice and A plus A Gallery presents the exhibition Hôtel-Dieu in Venice. The group exhibition addresses the issues of mass tourism in Venice, as well as the systematic sale of historic palaces to large hotel chains and the transformation of apartments into bed&breakfasts.
The spaces of the A plus A gallery are transformed into a place of hospitality as the famous Hôtel-Dieu were, institutions that in the Middle Ages were intended to house the indigent. The exhibition takes its name from these places of hospitality encouraging reflection on the future of Venice.
