John McAllister: Rapt Glittery Beguile Awhile

Wentrup presents John McAllister’s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery and his first in Venice. Known for his vibrant paintings inspired by Post-Impressionism and Fauvism, in this new exhibition McAllister explores fire—an element that acts both as a landscape and as a force shaping nature and its colors. His latest works capture its flickering movement, reflecting on change, transience, and light. The still life in the show extends this research, turning everyday objects into meditations on time. Through intense color and immersive compositions, McAllister rethinks landscape painting, engaging with themes of impermanence, the transformation of nature, and our deep, almost hypnotic connection to it.
