Joseph Beuys: Fine-limbed
Palazzo Cini presents a retrospective exhibition of Joseph Beuys, featuring about 40 works.
To coincide with the 59th Venice Biennale, Palazzo Cini presents a retrospective exhibition of Joseph Beuys, one of the most emblematic artists of the 20th century, who made art and life come together. Beuys conceived art as a positive force able to awaken individual creativity, activate political awareness and stimulate social change. During his career, he explored the relationship between human beings and nature, between peace and art, with both a social commitment and spiritual research. The exhibition takes its name from the seminal work: “Backrest for a fine-limbed person (hare-type) of the 20th Century AD”, and features a selection of about 40 works by the artist.
The exhibition is framed by two important themes of the artist’s research. The first theme is related to the body and human figure and the second explores the important and symbolic role that the image of animals plays in the visual and conceptual world of Joseph Beuys.
