Laura de Santillana: Sleeves

On the occasion of the exhibition: Paolo Venini and his furnace at Le Stanze del Vetro, on the island of San Giorgio in Venice, Caterina Tognon presents Laura de Santillana’s Sleeves.

Sleeves is a project which stems from Laura’s research on colour over the years and from her passion for traditional Japanese culture. This research has materialised in the new series of works in blown-glass, her preferred medium, which were created in Bohemia and on Murano and are being shown in Venice for the first time.
With these works her search does not end in the mystery of what will eventually compose a new paint, but instead the colour is fragmented in the air, one colour within the other, with no secrets. It is the light that will recreate the unique and new artwork determined by the superimposition.
