Laura Mega, Daniel Pešta: Where My Soul Complies
“Where My Soul Complies”, curated by Chiara Modìca Donà dalle Rose, presents works by Laura Mega and Daniel Pešta and is organised by the Venice-based Fondazione Donà dalle Rose in collaboration with MuMo – Museum Montanelli in Prague. The exhibition investigates a space – real or metaphorical – where the soul gathers, integrates and expresses its deepest truth. In a context marked by social fragmentation and conflict, the project reflects on the need for inner calm, emotional clarity and a sense of belonging.
The title combines spiritual language with the digital concept of “code compilation”, a process through which separate elements are assembled into a coherent whole. The exhibition considers how individual and collective experience may acquire meaning through the recomposition of emotions, memories and values, encouraging reflection on emotional wounds, civic suffering and the possibility of authentic human connections.
Daniel Pešta presents a series of new watercolours that address the concept of sublimation, described in the writings of Sigmund Freud as a psychological mechanism that enables individuals to confront difficult circumstances. The works explore the unconscious dimensions of personal and collective experience while allowing space for hope. Laura Mega contributes installations made with soft and symbolic materials. Embroidered fabrics and evocative objects form immersive environments that reflect on conflict, love, fragility, collective memory and practices of mutual care.
